As for your friends, maybe after the first few laughs, your REAL friends won't make TOO big a deal about the tights. <p> As for the leotard being over the tights, i've never heard of that before...I've always heard that guys wear the leotard or shirt under the tights (btw im not a dancer, i'm just interested).
