I am a boy and I took pointe class for nearly three years.  But it was carefully supervised and was done specifically to strengthen my feet, which it did!  I only took the barre portion of class and never did the center work in the pointe shoes.  No girl or boy should ever wear pointe shoes at age seven.  It would be a disaster and ruin the student's chances of ever dancing.
