James,That is completely wrong for any dance student to be struck in class like that.  At my dance school, if you are not properly dressed for class, you are not admitted.  Period.  The student teacher was way out of line to hit that boy, and the faculty shoudn't back her up.  If a student is a discipline problem, he or she should be removed from the studio and then punished if necessary.
