FINDING THE RIGHT TIGHTS!!!!!!!

Professional dance companies have many sources for their costumes, but most of these places sell only wholesale.

You can find places that sell retail, like www.nydancewear.com, www.saksmovingwear.com (www.actionwear.com) and www.backbaydancewear.com.  Go to www.balletalert.com to their LINKS page which has a good selection of on-line stores for dancewear.  Don't be afraid to ask for different styles and colors, and if they don't carry them, ask them where you might try.

There are several other places that will custom make dancewear for you.  I think the best is www.renaissancedancewear.com.  They have a great selection of fabrics and colors, and will also obtain any other fabric/color you might request.  There is also a place, www.youngsoriginals.com in Michigan that will custom make any type of form-fitting sportswear, from tights to luge suits.

In addition, you can try to find a local costume house or a local seamstress who will custom make something for you.  I had this cute little-old Polish lady who would sew anything I would describe.  You can obtain lycra and other fabrics at many places.  Dance Magazine used to have ads for fabric stores, including the "classified" section.  I bought some "tiger" lycra fabric which made a dynamite unitard.

You can also search the web for lycra fabric outlets.  There's a whole "society" of webbers out there who have interests in lycra, and on top of it, the makers of lycra, including DuPont, have web sites to help lycra lovers.

Try these sources.  I'm sure you'll find what you need.  BalletMaster
