Terry,

Tom had some real good points.  I can't agree with more about the double standard for women and men when it comes to clothes.  Women can wear pants (once only men wore them) and even boxers and its not weird.  If however men wear tights, oh boy he must be odd or gay (so goes the flawed logic!)  What a crock of bullshit!  You should have countered with this but oh well.  Chances are good that this woman would not be worth it anyway as she is enslaved by extremely traditional ideas.  The fact is psychologically and socially that it is much more important for men to adhere to the traditional idea of whats "manly" then women.  It fits our stupid, dysfunctional, western paradigm.  Hence, it is much more acceptable for women to be lesbian than men gay.  This translates into womens subconcscious (sp?) sexual attractiveness into only liking men in traditional garments.  I have run into the same battle with my girlfriend.  She thinks I look silly.  Why is this?  Men wore tights 500 yrs ago!  Anyway, it is a battle that you will face.  You might want to rethink wearing tights in public.  You still have to face discrimination.  Rather, you might try gettomg to know a girl and then introducing the tights thing.  The point is, it sounds like this girl is not open minded.  I would not be attracted to her on this point for other reasons. The reality is that not many women are probably going to be into this or at least a fair amount might tolerate it.  For women, pantyhose and tights for the most part are about alluring as socks.  Hence, they dont get it!   In all due fairness, "Friends" is only a good show if simply for the fact that Jennifer Anniston wears tights and has great legs.  Some thoughts on where to find women who are into men in tights:

1) Goth bars- these bars usually have ladies with more liberal ideas about gender roles in clothing as well as sex period.  Not only that, they religously wear cool tights and cute plaid skirts  (Gotta love that!)

2) Ballet class- Women here  are used to seeing men in tights - wearing them outside of class is not much of a stretch (beware ballerinas can be prissy and somewhat prudish though-very attractive though)

3)Renaissance fairs-excuse for men to wear tights- whats the difference?!

4) Any activity that would attract more intellectual, open minded women- i.e. yoga, lectures, art exhibits - these types of women are generally more accepting and not bound by social sterstereotypes.

Food for thought!
