I tend to agree with Plie here. There are certainly a number of different typesof people that visit here. I think the major group seems to be those that that get sexual gratification from wearing tights and leotard.  I dont have a problem with this as having a healthy sexual appetite is probably important .. as long as you don't become a slave to to it.

However, there is also the others that want to identify as ballerinas. I thinkballet and dance is wonderful. It both trains your mind and body, it has sensuality and passion it is beyond a fetish ! Unfortunately, I never took up dance whe I was younger..would have been far too embaressed.. but at some timeyou have to come to terms with who you are and what want to do. I eventaullytook up ballet/Jazz a couple of years ago in my early 30s and will say it is the best thing I have done. I had neglected my body .. I was overweight, I couldn't cross my legs seated, couldn't touch my toes (no where near), found it painful to go down on my knees ... in short I was a wreck. Dance has given me my body back.I must admit that I have a motivation to become a ballerina. I think blokes get a raw deal in ballet and is probably why you get a few all male dance groups where the men get to play the female roles. The ballerina gets to express herself and wear the fine costumes .. feel wonderful, the bloke gets to stand like a lemon !Obviously as a blokes we have to battle against our bodies/society. We are taught to be agressive, our bodies are less supple, less round, movements are less flowing .. but I suppose that is part of the challenge .. try to be who you are and not what others tell you you are.

I am still a long way from the dream and will almost certianly never get there but at least I will have fun trying. I am still not very supple, but at least I can now sit cross legged, can rest my chin on my knees, and can stand tall on the balls of my feet without violently shaking or tipping over. Future goalsare to do the splits and move on to pointe work (anyone know any good classes in London ?)
