Ballet is TOUGH!!! Yep. It's amazing how all those expectations (and anxieties)melt away in the heat of a class. You simply don't have time tothink about all that, there's so much going on (although I mustadmit that one never becomes entirely unconscious of the prettygirls). > I highly reccomend that everybody, male, female, old, young,> tights lover, or not to give ballet a try. The hard thing is to get across to outsiders just what it's like.I suspect lots of guys imagine that a ballet class is all aboutmincing about on your tippy-toes, fluttering your arms, & imita-ting swans. No way. It's about speed, control, coordination, accuracy, alignment, balance, & stamina--for starters. You canbet your bottom dollar that when coaches like Knute Rockne &Vince Lombardi sent players to take ballet, it wasn't so theycould imitate swans on the 50-yard line! It's rough stuff. And it can be terribly discouraging, at thestart. But it's also (as someone once said) the most fun you canhave with your clothes on! Moving that way FEELS so good! Tom Parsons
