That's happened to me too--dreams inspiring me for a while.  One time I had a dream where I had donned tights under my pants, and somehow the length had shortened during the day, just above the ankle.  I had purple tights on underneath, and it was plainly obvious.  At first I struggled to hide them, but eventually realized no one took notice.  When I awoke, I had this craving for purple tights.  Fortunately, my sister had a pair of classic Danskins (with the inverted toe seam), in a nice warm shade of purple, that she miraculously hadn't worn in quite some time.  T'was easy to nab them for a few days at a time without her noticing.  Eventually, a few years passed and they disappeared (no doubt got tossed into a used clothing bin somewhere in town--my mom was passionate about that).  I've never had purple tights since, but still keep my eyes out from time to time.
