By the way, last Hallowe'en I had ended up in a situation that reminded me of the "Kansas City Experience" (my codephrase for being caught out in tights, with mortifying results.) Dea and I were on our way to this Hallowe'en party, so I was in my way-short jester costume with red-and-yellow tights. Anyway, we had to stop in at a supermarket to get stuff for the party, so I got to walk around the market with my tights out. This was pretty cool (though I had a fever at the time, if you can believe that,) right up until the checkout line, where the five-year old girl on line with her mother just ahead of us, began shrilly and repeatedly asking her mother why that boy (yeah, I know) was wearing tights. Mom kept answering, but she kept asking. Everyone stared, in fact, the way the kid was going on, I'm sure no-one could even THINK of anything except the fact that there was a guy in tights standing there. I remember thinking, "this must be what Seeker was feeling," though I realize not to the same degree (I mean, it was Hallowe'en weekend, so I had the classic "excuse," something you lacked, no?) And of course, the woman ahead of THEM on line was paying for 18 cans of cat food with a check, and naturally there was some necessary discussion about the sale price...anyway, when we got to the party, the first girl I saw gave me a looking-over that made it all worthwhile, not to mention the welc0me public mauling I was getting from the galpal!-Depon (In: a hurry. off to a wedding!)
