When I lived in Virginia Beach, I found a Dancewear store in Norfolk that was run by a woman who was in her thirties. The first time I went there, I told her that I was looking for a unitard. She had a couple of Capezio unitards for men in stock and had me try them on. She also had me come out of the dressing room so she could take a look to check the fit. Oh my God...I almost lost it when she ran her hands over the unitard to "smooth" it out. I went back a couple of weeks later and told her I needed some tights and a leotard for Halloween. She gave me a pair of men's capezio tights but told me that she didn't have any leotards for men. She said, "But I do have a ladies' black leotard that will fit you. Try it on...". She handed me a long sleeve, turtleneck leotard. I tried on the tights and the leotard and was checking myself out when she said, "Well, are you coming out?" I stepped outside and she said, "Oh, those look great. Are the men's tights too opaque? I have women's tights that you could wear, also." I was so shocked that I stammered, "Uhm...these are fine." She told me that my "costume" looked cute on me. I wish there were more women like her running dancewear shops!! Answers to this message: |
