This used to be a big problems years ago but now with more and more men doing pointework (and not just in drag) you can get pointe shoes that don't have to be special ordered. I would suggest Sansha becuase they are one of the few pointe shoemakers that do pointes up to the equivalent of a man's size 13-E or so. Please excess the following URL:

There you can mail order your pointe shoes. They will give you their street address and you just send you payment along with an outline of your foot and you'll get your pointe shoes in about 4 weeks. You might want to go very easy if you are teaching yourself how to just stand and walk on pointe. Be sure you learn how to properly tie the pointe shoes and when ordering, do get some TOE-FLO pad because pointework is a lot more difficult--even just standing or walking on pointe--than the you think.
