Re: First Pointe Shoes

You should go to your local dance store and get fitted for pointe shoes.  That is most important.  As long as your feet aren't too big, then they will probably have shoes that can fit you.  Over time, you will figure out which shoes work and which ones don't, by trial and error.

Unless you're really against it, I would just get pink pointe shoes.  Non-pink shoes are so much harder to find, and the fit is really the most important thing here.  You might have a choice between "ballet pink" and "European pink".  Buy standard pointe shoes, avoid the Sansha lace-up shoes.  It doesn't matter whether you get canvas or satin shoes, they're all canvas underneath.

Do not try to buy pointe shoes mail-order, unless you already know your size.

Best of luck, and enjoy training en pointe!
