I am an enthusiatic choreographer and instructor, available for short or long term engagements. I work well with dancers of varied levels and expertise, from students to professionals. I am very comfortable working with different styles of ballet, from classical to contemporary, as well as with staging works from the classic repertoire. My training is in the Vagonova, Cecchetti and Bournonville techniques. I use aspects of all three methodologies in my own teaching. I am experienced in instruction at all ages and levels, from pre-primary through advanced ballet. At this time I am primarily instructing young adults. I feel I have a clear understanding of how to develop an encouraging and respectful rapport with these students, working within a disciplined, yet humane framework that I believe to be physically and mentally healthy. I feel it is my responsibility to not only give my students a sound technical basis with which they may attain their professional goals, but also an understanding of the aesthetics of the art that they will carry throughout their lives. My professional career includes experience as a dancer, director, choreographer, ballet master, and instructor. Performing affiliations include Boston Ballet, Washington Ballet, North Atlantic Ballet, Granite State Ballet, and Boston Dance Company. Repertoire includes contemporary pieces (i.e. Gershwin, Monk, Winston), classical works (i.e. Respighi, Shostakovitch), as well as full-length ballets (i.e. Alice in Wonderland, Cinderella, Nutcracker). I am able to travel or relocate. For more information and video tape, please contact: Scott Ranagan 978-454-0501 scottballet@netscape.net [/i]
