At this age, 15, I decided, based upon the fact the my new studio was more relax, to wear different types, colors and fabrics of tights. Not only, which I actually still do, wear either high cutted or thong leothards and unitards, but different colors as well. I started wearing light blue, green, tan, grey, etc, but bright ones like yellow or orange are out of my wardrope. In those days, I only wore either jock straps or thong underwear, no dancebelts.
Let me share with you an experience that convinced me that, after one specific day, the dancebelt became a must in my dancing attire. One day, I was rehearsing with a beautiful girl, that happens to be my girlfriend now, and by accident, she kicked my testicles during a fast movement that we were practicing. Needless to say that I saw stars, layed down on the floor for about an hour and could no go to class for few days. I do believe that if I would had wore any dancebelt that day, the story would have been different.
Dancebelts should be consider, more than a matter of comfort, a matter of security. It not only hold you up " perfect", but also helps us, the male dancers, to avoid any kind of injuries.
Being in the ballet world for so long, has taught me to respect and admire this kind of art. Anyone who joins any type of art, should love it and get the best of it. Moral standards, and a decent behavior, will increase the respect of the society towards us, the dancers. The reason of my statement is related to your comment about how thin your tights get, when you strecht, making possible for others to see your private parts. I am a very young fellow well physically developed, and I am not pretending to get graphic, and my bulge is something that is clearly shown, even when I am wearing a dancebelt, but from there to make my private easily seen by others, while rehearsing in a group, is something that totally out of the question and this should be a fact not only for me but for other male dancers or yoga students.
I am sorry that people like you, not only decrease the quality of some gimnastics practices but also of the people who join these trainings as well. You should respect yourself and the people who surround you, where ever you are.
About leggings, I do agree with you on this one, but only because it is absolutely necessary to warm muscles up before training and these pieces of attire, do a splendid job for that purpose.
Thanks.[/i]
