Since a long time ago, dancewear for men has been a one of those topics and the questions posted here are almost the same.  As for yours, "Can guys wear the loetards", really the answer is yes.  When I started ballet (aged 9), our school forced us to wear black tights and white t-shirts.  When I grew up ( I am 18 now), and moved to another studio, the class was more relax and men could use any color and style of ballet attire, as long as the teachers were able to see your leg muscles and how they were developing.

I started to wear leotards and tights and unitards at age 16 (thanks to my girlfriend which happens to be my soon to be wife 2 years from now).  At the beggining I felt a little odd because of what other people might think. With the time I felt more comfortable with that kind of dancewear because, first, people got used to see me wearing it, second I thought it look good on me and I liked it.I even got thong and high waisted leotards of several colors (white, grey, black, light blue, tan and green) and fabrics with matching tights.  As for ballet shoes, dark shades will worked fine for me.

Because of this kind of dancewear, no one ever questioned my manhood or how serious ballet is for me and dancemates as well as regular friends, never mentioned neither anything about it.

Don´t let dancewear affects your love for ballet which is an excellent and professional way of artistic expression.  The dancing attire you decide to wear to your class or studio will  not make any difference on how you train or express yourself thru dancing. Only make sure you feel ok with it and to wear it with a dancebelt always (which is part of the proper male ballet dancewear).
