OK Jarrod...are you serious?

Hi Jarrod!

OK...if you've been dancing long enough to qualify for an audition with ABT, why don't you know about wearing a leotard with tights?

NO OFFENSE intended!!

It's simple....you put on your dancebelt then the leotard over.  Then put on the tights.  Sure, the waistband will be up and over the leotard.  You can either attach suspenders to hold the tights up, in place, or, you can wear a belt.

Wearing a belt, get one with elastic.  Go to a sporting goods store and get the elastic belts that guys wear with baseball pants.  They are adjustable.  Set the belt to your comfort level, but be sure it's tight enough, without impeding your ability to dance.

Put on the tights and pull them up the up so they seat well in your crotch, fitting tight into the crotch.  I prefer footless tights that can be pulled up properly, then wear white socks with my white leather ballet slippers.

With the waistband of the tights pulled to the highest point on your torso, put the elastic belt on, over the tights.  It has to be tight enough so that it won't slip down too far, but still allow you to breathe and dance.

Once in place, fold the top of the tights down, under the bottom of the belt.  Then fold the belt and its covered tights down once on itself.  This provides a safe, tight band around your waist.

Usually, before turning the tights under the bottom of the tights, I like to slip the belt around so the buckle is on my back, with a smooth belt in front on my abdomen.  Then I fold the tights under the bottom of the belt, and then the belt down over itself.  This allows for a smoother look in the front.

I hope this helps.  If your concerns are different, please post again or email me.  I'd like to help you feel comfortable with your dancewear so that you can perform to your best ability when at the audition.  Really, don't worry about your dancewear, but focus on the display of your dance.  At any audition, you should feel comfortable.  Don't worry about impressing anybody.  Focus on expressing your love of the dance.  Feel free, feel like you're having fun.  Don't think about who is watching or who is judging.  Be yourself.  Shut everything out and dance for yourself.  That will impress the watchers more than a worried boy who's trying to do everything so prefectly.

Good luck....and please let us know how it goes!
