And itensures an unobstructed line from the toes to the perineum. Sinceballet is an art that favors long lines, anything that will enhancethis appearance is good. No, they aren't very comfortable (although a well-fitting one isnot difficult to get used to). But they are just another one of themany slightly weird things about this wonderful art of ours.
