>>thanks - that's the main point - i really want them to have less of a grip on my life.>As I said, it's a journey of self-discovery.  A few other things I would suggest about wearing tights:> 1. Be appropriate.  No one wears tights when it's 90 degrees out because THAT IS TOO HOT FOR TIGHTS!  If you're wearing tights in the height of the summer, you will stick out.> 2. Be modest.  It's one thing to wear tights under pants, shorts or a skirt.  It's quite another to walk around outside wearing tights under a long T-shirt --- one that doesn't quite cover your butt.  Or to walk around with your penis hanging out.  If you do the latter, you WILL be noticed and people WILL think you're strange.> 3. Shave your legs.  Only the thickest black men's dance tights look good with unshaven legs.  People might think it's cool to see you wearing tights, but not if matted hair is visible through them.  Believe it or not, very few people will even bat an eyelash at your shaven legs, they really won't treat you differently.>>I have thought about 'acting out' a fantasy or maybe pursuing something like dance where i would have to wear them and eventually it would work itself out.>I would certainly never discourage anyone from studying dance --- it is one of the deepest, most sublime things you can do with your life.  A certain number of men really do start taking ballet class because they want to wear tights and ballet class is a safe place to do so.>If you do this, you will soon learn that the tights are a non-issue --- leotards are also a non-issue, but I suggest you wear them under your tights (wearing the leotard over the tights brings attention to your genitals; see point 2 above.  That's why it's not traditional for men).  Very soon, you will learn how much hard work and discipline is involved in ballet --- and you'll be thinking too hard about other things to worry about what you are wearing.  As for the tights, you might find that a couple of the ladies say it's nice to see a man brave enough to wear tights to ballet class --- an encouraging, welcoming word to which you say "thank you".>One of the wonderful things about ballet is that you really get in touch with your body.  For example, when everyone is clad in skin-tight gear, gender becomes perfectly obvious based on body shape and size.  You can wear whatever you want and you'll still look like a man.  That is a freeing idea, in a way.  Over time, in the process of getting in touch with your body, you may discover what you're looking for.  You may become more comfortable with just wearing what you want to wear in public --- if that's tights one day then so be it.>Don't expect the ballet studio to be a place to act out fantasies; that is better done at home.  Ballet already has more than enough women but it desperately needs men.  Anyway, when you perform you don't own your body any more --- you wear whatever you're told to wear and you give yourself away to the audience.>Hey, email me if you like.  I'm sissonechangement at hotmail dot com.

thanks for your input. I broke down and again got a pair of tights. I put them on they felt so sensual - so good - but I also realized i can channel that energy into working out - in the past i have worked out the hardest and gotten in the best shape when i wore tights and slippers - something about it motivates me. I mean you put them on,and it 'reveals' your real lines almost more than nudity and makes me want to work out more seriously.
