Thank you for your response.  I especially liked your comment, "IT is part of your enjoyment of the dance."

One friend told me that in her opinion most dancewear is basically unisex anyways and "..God forbid that someone studying the creative/performing arts do something outside the 'norm'.."

I have purchased and tried the skin tone tights, and they seem to show the muscles more clearly than the traditional black.  I have felt a little apprehensive about wearing them to class.  The dance schools I have attended have a fairly liberal policy about adult dance attire.  When I have asked about what is appropriate, most instructors have said, "whatever you feel comfortable dancing in."
