You've probably heard my story, but here it goes again. I was about 3 or 4 when I asked my mother to let me take classes. She said NO! and it would make me "queer!" My dad was cool about it! He bought me all sorts of books about ballet. I finally got into a formal ballet class when I started high school and got a bus pass (Dad signed the permission slip) ... mother thought I was late because I was in the debate club!
It's sad that parents don't think of ballet as good training for their boys. The muscle stretching and flexibility, and especially the body-centering and ability to focus the body weight when moving, is great training for any boy ... and really helps in other sports they might be involved in.
Keep dancing!
