I'm a professional dancer and have experienced what you mentioned, mostly with teenage girls when I was a teenager. As an adult, for the most part, the women interact with me like human beings.<p>However, last summer was different. I went to the same professional-level class just about every day ALL SUMMER LONG. And NONE of the regular women in the class would ever even say "hi" to me. It was really pathetic. All I can say is there must have been some sense of insecurity and competition. I know it's ridiculous because men and women don't compete for the same jobs. But there it was anyway. No one would talk to me.<p>I worked hard anyway and eventually the summer ended and I got to go back to my own company, where we all work together. Keep dancing, keep working hard, and don't worry about people like you describe.
