I started ballet lessons once a week for almost eighteen months when Iwas 32. I moved and had a difficult time finding an adult beginning class. At age 35 I started taking classes at several different studios due to mycrazy work schedule and to take class 4 nights weekly. I wanted to trypointe and did start beginning pointe classes at age 39. It's verydifficult for me because I have poor turn out and flexibility (not fromlack of trying!) I found that working on pointe showed me exactly wheremy weakest areas were. "Pulled up" became so much clearer to me as didbeing more aware of my posture. I don't know if I'll ever be able totruly dance on pointe, but it certainly helps to know what areas to work on.If you can find an instructor who will work with you closely, go for it.Make certain you are PROPERLY fitted for pointe shoes also. They are asdifferent as dancers themselves. Don't try pointe at home EVER! Make sure you are properly wqrmed up also. Good Luck.
