I'm not against your wearing tights and leotards. I'm just wondering if you are really dancing or imagining yourself dancing, you know, like prancing around in your apartment or house, whatever. Sorry, but I guess I'm getting tired of the fetish posts here. Please understand, the males in my class all wear their tights OVER their leotards, when they wear a leotard, I mean. And when they wear a leotard, it is usually when we have a presentation or for a dress rehersel prior to an actual performance. Otherwise, there is a very strict dress code: Black leotards for the women with pink tights and pink shoes and black tights with white t-shirts (tucked into their tights) and black slippers for the men.
As one dance teacher told me, such is part of the discipline of ballet. If you are really dancing, I have to wonder if it if for the simple reason that you can wear such an outfit; tights/leotard, etc. Again, I'm not against this, but your unwillingness to conform to the uniformity of the rest of your class (if you are really studying ballet) makes me wonder what involvment you really have with such a discipline.
Sorry, but I dance (and study!)in Manhattan, where we had to literally close off any viewing of classes to all but invited guests or approved persons. We simply had too much of a problem with men coming in either staring or taking pictures and then confronting the women afterwards and in a few cases, actually following them when they left the studio! So I am not so tolerant of any "off the wall" posts.
Besides, if you really didn't care about wearing your leotards outside your tights, you wouldn't have posted such a message on the Ballerina board.[/i]
