[i]I am a classically trained ballet dancer of 17 years now.
Since I know it is quite unrealistic for me to become a
professional dancer(I am 21)after having stopped pointe
work for almost 4 1/2 years. I also know the chances of
dancing in any ballet company would be slim to now existant
now. However, I have heard through the ballet-grapevine, that
certain companies(The National Ballet of Canada?)sometimes hire
young people to be involved in the set and costume design of their
company. I'm extremely interested to find if this is true. Along
with being a dancer/passionate about anything ballet, I am also a
portrait artist. I have been involved in the theater all of my life.
I know the workings of the stage very well and have had much experience
in costume, set, and make-up design. So this bit of information that
I gathered is very intriguing to me. If anyone knows of this to be
true, PLEASE, PLEASE send forth the good news! This is for all those
who's dreams of actually dancing have been dashed for some reason or
another and still want and need to be a part of that elite world!
From one fellow dancer to another~Kristi~
