A dancebelt is a thong athletic supporter with a pouch that holds a male's anatomy straight up and away from between the legs. The thong rides nice and snug and the 1-1/2 to 3" waistband usually rides a little high on the waist to give the support a male needs. The reason a dancebelt is worn is several: (1) It protect's the male's anatomy from possible injury when dancing or working out, (2) the pouch, especially the Capezio quilted, is usually made of poplin material which does not stretch much if at all, and firmly holds the male anatomy as well as prevents the outline of the anatomy from being shown (for decency), (3) the dancebelt helps prevent embarassing athletic support lines from showing through tights. Unlike a jockstrap which has leg straps, the dancebelt's comfortable, yet snug, thong allows for the usually required tight fitting wedgied tights/unitards males must wear, (4) the dancebelt also allows for more freedom of movement, and (5) a dancebelt will allow tights/unitards to be pulled up as tight as needed which a jockstrap will not allow.
Most males, starting as early as age 8 or 9, must wear a dancebelt for ballet and lots of guys wear dancebelts under their workout tights, bike shorts, etc. It is the best support a male can wear and make him look decent in tights too. A male thong or something like a Speedo will not work so that's why dancebelts are a need for males. However dancebelts need to be made available in sporting goods stores as more guys would wear tights if they knew the existence of dancebelts in the first place. Why Capezio and other companies have not tried to market dancebelts to sporting goods stores is not known.[/i]
