The king in Sleeping Beauty doesn't do much but sit onstage with the queen and watch the festivities. When I first danced the Prince in Sleeping Beauty (at age 23) the king was this retired cop who sat on his thrown. He just watched the activity. In some performances the king follows Catalbute in a polanaise step to get to the thrown. You need to go for it! There's no need to be nervous! You have been asked to perform a character ballet role, not to perform as the principle male danseur! I would give up my eye-teeth for the opportunity to perform a character role!
