....follow your dream !
written by michael on 18.03. at 16:27:52 - as answer to: dress code in a open adult ballet class ( opinions wanted ) by just somebody at Don't get hung up on dressing like a professional ballet dancer, which you're not!I started an adult begineers ballet class a few years ago.I'm the only male in the class.I tried unsuccessfully to obtain mens ballet tights locally and went to the first few classes in track suit bottoms. The females in the class wear all sorts of clothing, from ballet dresses and proper ballet tights to tee shirts and leggings.I decided that I wanted to wear tights and in the absense of proper mens ballet tights decided to wear 2 pairs of womens 70 denier black poaque tights which I bought in a local department store.I know that the womens tights I wear are not proper professional ballet tights, but then I'm only doing recreational ballet for fun and exercise. The ballet teacher thanked me for having the courage to wear tights and knows that I'm wearing womens tights. The tights I wear provde warmth for my muscles and are strong enough for basic ballet exercises.I know that a few of the women in the class are wearing ordinary non ballet tights. At least one female student informed me that she was wearing the exact same brand of tights as myself in class.I dare say that if I came to class in white tights worn under a black leotard a few tongues would wag.
