That's my interpretation most of the time.  Igor Youskevitchstarted some time in his early twenties...but he was a unique case;I've never heard of any other professional starting that old.

On the other hand, some people do come here wondering whether theycan do recreational ballet.  Answer: you can do it at any age aslong as your body is still up to it.  I'm 72, & a classmate justcelebrated his 76th birthday.  We have a bunch of grandmothersin our class & I wish I could move as beautifully as they do.
