I had the advantage of being in sports for all of my teenage and early adult years. I had the muscle and strength to advance onto point within 2 years. I have been dancing on pointe for the last 25 years, just finished another Nutcracker performance. Funny that I am now more flexible than I ever was when I was young. I have more fears in trying risky steps, for with age, comes the knowledge that an injury can sideline me for a long time. I continously work on my strength, any chance I have I lift onto demi point at least 20 times on each leg, every day, without holding on to anything, strictly relying on my center. I have never enjoyed anything more than dance. I will never be a prima ballerina, but I have developed a body line and arches I am proud of, and that is really the most important aspect. To be the best I can be as an individual. By the way, I am 61, and tonight is my point class and I can't wait. (I can pass for 45)Nature has blessed me. Answers to this message:
