>>>I'm a male in his 20's who started adult beginner ballet classes at a local dance school 2 months ago.I'm the only male in the class and the females have all been pretty supportive of me.Almost all the women in the class wear ballet leotards and tights.Up to now I've been wearing a tee shirt and shorts...but I now feel I'd like to try tights, even though I feel a lot of reservations about putting on tights( insecurity mostly!)I guess I'm looking for a bit of moral support from other beginner ballet students.>>By all means..............PUT ON SOME TIGHTS!!! We ballerinas love seeing male dancers wear their tights!! But aside from the sexual appeal of wearing tights, they are quite practical, comfortable and keep your legs warm and help to shape your legs. So PLEEEEEEEEEEEZE try some tights. You'll love them, and we'll love looking at you!!>I'm kind of in the same boat.  I'm in my 30's , male and I start classes on Wednesday and have been nervous about wearing the tights

There's nothing to be nervous about. Tights for guys is the norm in ballet. You will feel quite at ease once you take your first class wearing your tights.
