You need to have a leotard and tights - ballet tights.  As for slippers the split soles are very comfortable.  Buy the slippers to just fit you like a glove.  Many stores try to fit them too tightly.  It is true that over time leather slippers will stretch, but if they do you can wear socks.  So, don't get them too tight.  Also, never too loose - they should fit like a glove.  There are canvas slippers, but they don't form to the foot as well as leather, so I would recommend leather slippers.  Then you need to get some elastic, about 3/4 inchwide or so, and sew them across the tops of the shoes.  The way you do that is to fold down the slipper where the heel is, and where the fold comes that's where you sew the elastics across.  Sew them on strongly.  This will keep the slippers firmly on your feet.  Hope this helps - lots of luck.
