I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your encouraging words. However, much as I love ballet, I have been forced to take a realistic look at my situation.

I come from an area where there is virtually no ballet and the best school possible is affiliated with the only company for miles around (which has at least one dancer falling over at every performance they give so you can tell what the standard is like!). It is not a place where I will get the coaching I need to achieve a professional level while maximising the time I have available.

I've also had a serious talk with my parents and they are not willing to finance the heavy costs that daily lessons or going for summer intensives will incur, but want me to focus on graduating instead. I'm not giving up, but for now I guess I'll have to watch from the sidelines (as I grow older day by day).

>I started in my mid twenties and danced professionally for 30 yrs.  It is very difficult to find teachers that will take adults seriously, I know that.  However, it is possible.  You need to shop around and really observe classes and talk to the teachers.  And you need to work hard and thoughtfully, learning all you can.  As for summer intensives - I have a list of them and if you e-mail me will gladly send them to you.  >Don't give up - it is possible to do.  I have no idea where you are so I can't give  you specific information of where to go.  Just don't let anyone take your dream away.  As for going on pointe you will need to take class at least 2-3 times per week for 2-3 years.  It depends on how hard you work and your body and feet.  Pointe work should only be done under the supervision of a teacher and only your teacher can determine when you are ready.  I also have information on accessing readiness for pointe.  E-mail me for that too, Basheva
