....follow your dream !
written by Basheva on 13.06. at 15:55:44 - as answer to: sore feet by tiny dancer I think that the first thing you should do - is talk to your teacher about the problem. You should also have her check your shoes, to be sure that the fit is good. When you do a frappé, it is true that the foot strikes the floor - contact is made - but don't hit the floor solidly, the foot makes contact and then glances off the floor. If you are in slippers, you might consider putting inside your shoe a foam rubber insert. You can purchase these quite inexpensively in a drug store or foot care section of a supermarket. Dr. Scholl's makes them. Also elevating your feet whenever you can - like sitting in an easy chair helps. It might also help for your teacher to check how you are using your feet - any rolling - pronating, sickling. All of this would put pressure on different areas of the foot. And, do check you other shoes - your everyday shoes. Sometimes we forget that these shoes too can hurt our feet. If you are doing any PE in school - or running - on hard surfaces - that's a big no-no too. I have an article on care of the feet - if you would like it please e-mail me at ORZAK@aol.com Basheva >Hi!First I would like to say that I truly enjoy this link, and I'm glad to see that there are truly seasoned dancers that give their advice. I am taking a level II ballet class, that meets 4 times a week, and sometimes my feet, esp. the tops of my feet, hurt really bad..it hurts to walk down my stairs in the morning! I know it is from numerous frappes and envelopee in eleve, but if there is something I can be doing to help my feet recover after class i would appreciate any feedback.
