Men's leather slippers come in different types of leather, so it depends on the leather.
I have known some male danseurs who like a very thin calf-skin for performances. These are unlined and mold tightly to the foot. You used to be able to order them from Freeds, but directly from their factory in London. I'm sure other people make them, though.
Also, different guys wear-out their slippers differently. Just like your regular street shoes.
In my limited experience with canvas, these slippers seem to wear out the more I would wash or clean them.
