The problems I have is that I don't like tight clothing, because I don't like being confined (in any way), and the clothes are showing off stuff I'd rahter not show. With the form fitting t-shirt, it's like an unwritten rule that you shouldn't wear them unless you have like muscles to show off which I definately don't. I'm almost as skinny as you can get. Next, with the biker shorts. I don't even wanna go there because those are realllly small. And then with the form-fitting jazz pants, those are just tight and I don't care to wear them. My dilemma is that I want to continue dancing in this class, but I don't like the attire. What should I do? >>>PS. I believe during class loose clothing should be worn. At the age of fifteen, you don't need to show it all. Hormones are raging enough. I think you should talk to the person in charge and express you feeling. If that doesn't work, ask your parents to intervene. Best of luck.The reason the instructor is asking this young man to wear tight clothing is so he or she can see the true positioning of his body - ie. the arch of his back, angle of his ankle, positioning of his shoulders, etc. This can't be seen in his usual baggy clothing. I understand all the other dilemnas faced by male dancers when wearing tight fitting clothing but now is the time for this student to condition and acclimatize himself in all ways to the challenges of ballet attire.
