Tom, after class last Saturday morning I visited a shoe store in Cambridge (Massachusetts) which also sells dancewear. The proprietor showed me two different products: a wide belt of some ribbed, canvas-like material, which came complete with buckle and prong; and a 3/4"-wide one-piece belt, with an adjustable loop, made out of the same fabric as the belt portion of Capezio dancebelts. It's made by "Body Basics." The first belt looked bulky and uncomfortable; the second looked like it wouldn't fit over my hips, let alone my waist.
I bought it anyway, took it home and tried it on. It fits perfectly. I rolled my tights down and over it, then did a couple grand plies and battements. Everything stayed in place, and I hardly noticed I was wearing a belt.
Thanks for your advice.
Now, if you could tell me where I could purchase flexibility and agility for these 47-year-old legs, that would be even better.
