Throughout history men have worn tights, not just for ballet, but as part of the attire for the time period. You need to look no further if you have ever attended a rennaisance festival, where you will see many men dressed in brightly colored tights. It has (wearing tights) nothing to do with their gender or sexuality,it is just a part of the uniform. Tights are manufactured by dancewear and costume companies in styles for both men and women, so you should'nt feel that you are breaking some sort of gender barrier or think of it as crossdressing. Besides tights are considered as a fashion accessory, not as underwear. Taking all that into consideration, the leotard was invented and first worn by a man, and there are men's and womens styles in those too. Although I have never taken ballet, and I AM NOT gay, I just look at tights as just an article of clothing, and if you find pleasure in wearing them, by all means go for it. It's about who you are and not what you wear. [/i]
