Since almost everyone in class wears gym pants, etc., there is no "raising the bar" of standard acceptable dress in a ballet class.  I think you may be on to something when you say that a man with the chutzpah to wear tights or unitards in class might be inspiring enough for the women to follow suit.  <p>Jon, an excellent response.  I'me new to ballet as well and have just completed my second class.  I bit the bullet and invested in MStevens tights and Dance Belt  I had made up my mind, to start with, that "when in Rome, do as the Roman's do".  That has paid off.  I am 6' and 180 lbs and 59 yrs so if anyone should feel out of place, it's me.  The complements from those in my adult class have been very supportive.  Any concern that I had to start with is now passed by and I feel very comfortable and part of the class.  Any concerns you may have will wear off quickly.  GO FOR IT![/i]
