Dancebelts do become a bit softer and more comfortable the more they're worn and washed.  However, usually about then many loose their support.

They will last longer if you carefully hand-wash them without wringing them out.

Some brands are different.  The ones with wide, stiff elastic waistbands should stay stiff around the waist.

In what way do you think a new dancebelt is uncomfortable?
