Lycra is the same thing as spandex---silky and smoother to the touch. Dancebelts are evil, uncomfortable, but unfortunately necessary. If I were you, I'd go lycra, as it's more comfy. As the pouch goes, quilted just means there's more fabric in the grion----generally a good idea, because if you get a dancebelt that's too thin in front, it's the same thing as not wearing anything at all.
