Yeah, good post! When you think about it, if society didn't punish boys for wanting to study ballet,(and wearing tights to do it) many more males would study it at an early age. I can still remember my fear of wearing tights because of what my friends or the other boys my age would have thought. The result was, I didn't start studying ballet till shortly after high school when I was away at college and had the freedom to do so. I can see how the repressed desires to do so (wear them / study ballet) could lead to some sort of fetish. I don't know if western society will ever stop expecting at least some sort of machismo b.s. from males, but certainly, the existence of such is the reason why so many of our arts have suffered, especially dance.
