It's very unusual to see "instructional photos" for dancebelt wear. But there were the days when a couple of manufacturers had them. The guys here are sensitive about lots of dancebelt questions.
Well,.....let's get back to your question....
">I have 2 lift a girl in my class, and shes light, but ive got scrawny arms. Im 15 and cant get my hands on n-e weights. my gym only lets 18 and older lift weights. what should i do? tae-bo? other workouts? thanx!"
You can buy simple hand weights down at the local sports/authority/mart. These only cost about $3 to $6 if you don't want them painted funny colors. A simple 5lb weight can be sufficient for working the arms, and you can do various curls, etc. with them.
BUT, there's also the simple stand-by to build the arms....push-ups!
Our old (and departed, but not forgotten) friend, DancingDoc, posted recently on www.danceart.com's Men's/Guy's board about cardiovascular fitness. Other workout programs, like swimming/biking and workouts (I assume he'd approve of tae-bo) are important for dancers to help build endurance. I've known many male dancers who don't body-build the arms, but still are sufficiently fit to do all sorts of lifts.
One important thing about lifts --- it's more the proper technique and the physics of the lift (lifting with the correct muscles; proper postioning; proper balance; etc.) than the amount of strength that's important. I knew a football player into ballet who was a klutz at lifts because he couldn't balance the girls.
Discuss the lifts with your teacher with special regard for the body positioning and balance. S/he should be able to help.
Good luck! BalletMaster
OH! AND ALSO, I AM NOT A PERVERT TOO! But I don't feel I have to defend myself to anybody. If they don't like me, tough.> [/i]
