I cried so much when Billy's dad recognized his son's calling and his talent. Once the father had done this, he was willing to sacrifice his deepest held beliefs to help Billy realize his dream. By the end of the story, Billy's admission to the Royal Ballet School was more important to the father than the settling of a bitter strike in the coal mines where he worked.
I hope some day my dad will sit in the audience, watch me dance in a ballet, and be proud of me.
