Kyle, I saw La Bayadere two weeks ago, danced by Boston Ballet. They did a terrific job. I guess I'm old-fashioned, as I prefer the "story ballets", and La Bayadere, which was choreographed by Petipa back in the 19th c, is definitely a story ballet. BB enhanced the story with amazing sets, costumes and special effects.
There is a wonderful scene, late in the ballet, where the hero visits the underworld, and every ballerina in the company (and Boston Ballet has a big company), slowly dances down a ramp. They were all in white against a dark backdrop. The effect was hypnotic.
So your parents were both dancers? It must run in the family! Do you have any brothers or sisters who also dance?[/i]
