Possibly yes. A danceblt give more support for your male equipment, and keeps it from slipping down between the legs, where fast, scissor-like movements can hurt! Also, for a strong fifth position, the dancebelt holds the equipment up and out of the crotch. Moving between a standing fifth and into demi-plie or plie, the equipment can slip. I couldn't jump without wearing a dancebelt.
The dancebelt is worn with the testicles drawn up as far out of the crotch as possible, and with the penis pointing up towards the belly-button.
What type of underwear are you wearing? A typical brief can't give enough support, although I have some brands of briefs that can give more support. Maybe you haven't had any trouble because the briefs you're wearing do give sufficient support. However, the dancebelt is designed for the best support a dancer needs.
You've also mentioned...">Another thing, wow - great board (my first post here, sure not to be my last) considering how long I've been dancing it really is mad that I don't know any other male dancers."
This board is good, but sometimes not too serious about dance.
There are two other boards you should try: www.balletalert.com has a special board called the Men's Forum; and, www.danceart.com (log in as an apprentice when asked) has two boards, Men In Dance and Guy's Club (teens).
Email if you'd like. There are a number of us ballet guys who correspond.

P.S. If you're wearing briefs under your tights, how can you see the muscles of your butt working? I find may of us prefer that our buttock muscles to be seen separately.
