This might not be the most comforting, but accept the fact that there a a lot of guys who will never understand being a dancer. Especially in high school, where the pressure is to be known on the football (or basketball or wrestling) team, you won't convice your fellow peers that dancing is the best. We all know it is. In all of high school and college I walked with the mentality that "yes, I am different--but I'm glad I am. I would rather be me than anyone else I know." Understand that you are a dancer--on your way to being a great one. Be proud of what sets you apart. When other people see you have no shame about yourslef it won't be long before they get tired of teasing. I am in college and I know that people think I'm different, but as long as you know it doesn't matter and you don't let it interfere with your dance work, WHO CARES? P.S.--I am really glad to hear about high school age male dancers. I remember thinking I must have been the only one in the world. Way to go, man.
