Rhys is right! I've taken classes at probably more than a hundred studios in my life-time, and every where I've run into cliques! It really hurts when you're a teenager! I remember at my first school there were six other boys. Three were really nasty (I later found out that they were prissy, bitchy queens), one was kind of distant, only interested in dance, one was interested in dance and the girl demonstrator, and the last, Joe, who was also in my high school, was really friendly.
The girls there were always nice to me and Joe, but didn't have anytime for the other guys, and they were especially nasty to the three queens, who were just as nasty back.
As an adult, I see the same thing in adult classes. Some of the women keep to themselves, some group themselves (talking about their kids and remodelling the house; the older ones talking about shopping). When I'm the only guy in class, most of them are usually nice to me, but some are very cold.
Cliques are the way of the world! Don't worry about the cliques! You're there to study ballet! Somedays you'll be in classes where you have friends, somedays you'll be in classes where people are not so social! That is the way of the world, not only dance classes. It's good preparation for you!
