My experience parallels yours, with one striking exception: backwhen there was a Freed's just north of 57th Street in Manhattan, Iventured in once and asked whether they had dancewear for men. (Itsure didn't look as if they had.) The woman gave me the fishy stareto end all fishy stares; I think if I had asked to be fitted for abra (!) I couldn't have elicited any more ill-concealed hostility.
I notice their store isn't there any more. Divine retribution,I calls it....

I know. Even at Capezio's main store in Manhattan the selectionfor men is dim. And mail order isn't as easy as it used to be;M. Stevens offers black & white tights & nothing else, & Bal-Togshave gone unisex: last time I got a pair from them I had to orderwomen's in extra-large: that was all they offered.
