Does anyone else hate it how male variations are always crap? I mean take sleeping beauty for example. It is the BLUEBIRD and Princess Florine not Princess Florine and the Bluebird but she still gets better parts. The Bluebirds solo is total crap and I hate dancing it. It's also Puss-In-Boots and the White Cat not the other way round so why should she tell him where to go at the end? I've also noticed that male variations are much shorter and normally go for like 30 seconds and audiences never watch them they're like "When is the girl coming back?" I also hate it that when WE do all the work in a pas de deux our solo (which is full of jumps and that's all it is!) comes straight after the pas de deux! When I was a child I was forced to be the Coulantes Fairy in Sleeping Beauty (though in the program they called me The Vine Pixie) but luckily didn't force me into a tutu. After a few years I realised it was one of the best expierences of my dancing career. The Coulantes Fairy, being the most manly, was actually a pretty good choice. But also, I did Puss-In-Boots and was the boy of the lead Garland Waltz couple. Does anyone else feel the same about male variations?
