If you have mastered the male movements in ballet, then I think pointe might be interesting. But you have to work on male technique first.
Pointe work gives a guy insight into balance and what the women go through, but, in my humble opinion, doesn't do much for male technique. In ballet, men and women have different roles.
I think it's more important for the male to focus on male technique, to learn the movements men make in ballet. If you have mastered the male roll, then a nice diversion may be pointe, but only after you've understood the roll of the male in ballet.
